Daisy Edgar-Jones has opened up about the health challenges she faced growing up, revealing that painful periods and severe acne made her teenage years particularly difficult before she was diagnosed with Endometriosis at the age of 24.
The actress, best known for her breakout role in Normal People, shared her experience in a video for Vogue published on March 3.
A Difficult Time Growing Up
Reflecting on her teenage years, Edgar-Jones described how the symptoms affected both her health and confidence.
She explained that she often experienced extremely painful periods along with what she called “volatile” skin that was very sensitive and prone to acne.
"For so long, I had such painful periods and really, you know, volatile skin. It was definitely a relief to find out why I was going through it," she said.
Learning she had endometriosis ultimately brought a sense of relief, as she finally explained the hormonal issues and ongoing pain she had experienced for years.
Finding the Right Routine
The actress also shared how she now takes care of her skin and overall health. Her routine includes drinking plenty of water, being mindful of her diet, avoiding dairy, and using gentle skincare products that don't irritate her sensitive skin.
According to Edgar-Jones, finding the right routine has helped her feel much more comfortable and confident.
Encouraging Others
Looking back at old photos, the actress said she realizes how much self-confidence and inner personality matter more than skin imperfections.
“It was all I could see when I looked in the mirror, but when I see old photos, it's funny how confidence and who you are on the inside really shows,” she said.
By sharing her experience, Edgar-Jones hopes others dealing with acne, hormonal issues, or similar health struggles won't feel defined by them. Her story has resonated with many fans, especially since endometriosis is a condition that affects millions of people worldwide.
